The draws of the 10th Asian Cadet Judo Championships 2016 and 17th Asian Junior Judo Championships – 2016, held in the presence of Obaid Al-Anzi, president, Judo Union of Asia and Mukesh Kumar, President, Judo Federation of India ( JFI ), and Judo Union of Asia, and other dignitaries of the Judo Union of As
100 Boys and 64 Girls from 22 Countries in the Cadet section and 85 Men and 53 Women from 19 Countries in the Junior section are participating in the Championships. The preliminary bouts of 4 weight categories of Cadet Boys and 4 Weights of Cadet Girls will be starting from 10.a.m. today at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kadavantra, Kochi.
The grand Opening Ceremony of the Championships will be held at 3.p.m, followed by the final block of the above 8 weight categories and medal ceremonies. 8th and 9th Asian Cadet Judo Championships and 10th &11th Sept Asian Junior Judo Championships.
Judokas from Japan, Korea, Taipei etc will participate. 6 Judokas from Pakistan also participate.
This is the Official events of Judo Union of Asia, which will be held every year, and it is also one of the ranking events of the International Judo Federation. The events also approved by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
These events are the Officials events of International Judo Federation (IJF), as well as Judo Union of Asia (JUA). 39 Affiliated member Countries of JUA from Asia will be participating in these official event of JUA and world ranking events of IJF.
Since insertion of Asian Cadet (earlier it was Youth) and Junior Judo Championships, by the JUA, Indian Judokas showing good performance in these events and won many medals in the Cadets as well as Junior Categories. JFI has already organized similar event ‘ 1st Asian Youth & 8th Asian Junior Judo Championships -2007 “ at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, in which Indian Judokas shown highest performance by
winning 18 medals ( 3 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze medals ).
Since these are the World Ranking Events the competitions is expected to be very tough. However Indian Judokas had shown good performance in the 9th Asian Cadet & 16th Asian Junior Judo Championships 2015 held at Bangkok, by winning 2 Silver and 3 bronze medals.
Taking the advantage in playing in home Country, JFI expecting excellent performance from the Indian Judo Players, those who will be participating in the 10 th Asian Cadet & 17th Asian Junior Judo Championships 2016 at Kochi.
