The number of novel coronavirus cases crossed the 700-mark in Bihar on Monday after 11 more people tested positive for the infection, a Health Department official said.
Five of the new COVID-19 cases are from Khagaria, four from Begusarai and two from Banka districts, the official said. “11 more covid19 +ve cases in bihar taking the total to 707,” Health Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar tweeted. “We are ascertaining their further infection trail.”
All the new patients are males and in the age group of 17-52, Kumar added. Of the 707 COVID-19 patients, 343 are still afflicted with the disease, while 358 have recovered. Six people have died of COVID-19 so far — one each from Patna, Rohtas, Munger, Vaishali, East Champaran and Sitamarhi districts.
Barring Jamui, all the remaining 37 districts of Bihar are affected by COVID-19. Munger district has reported the highest number of cases (115), followed by Patna (61), Rohtas (59), Buxar (56), Nalanda (50), Siwan (33), Kaimur (32) and Begusarai (31), officials said.
A total of 36,053 samples have been tested so far at seven facilities in Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga, the officials added.
