THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The 40-km Champions Ride of the 2nd edition of the Trivandrum Cyclathon, which took place in the capital city today, ended in a photo finish, with Sreenath L taking the first prize.
Sanjayan Kumar, Director, Sports and Youth fairs flagged off the event from Manaveeyam Veedhi at Vellayambalam at 5 am. The 178 participants, who took part in three categories: Champions Ride, Fitness Ride and S
Anupama T V, Director of the Social Justice Department flagged of the kids’ race. Mayor V K Prasanth, who was Chief Guest, gave away the prizes in the presence of Julius Lim, Manager of SilkAir, Thiruvananthapuram.
While Sreenath clocked the race in 1:06:34, Renjith C finished second at 1:06:36; Anoop Kutty with 1:07:24, came third in the 40 km Champions Ride-Road Bikes category. John Mathew, Nixon Joseph and Gautham Krishna K P finished first, second and third in the 40 km Champions Ride-Hybrid Bikes category.
Renjith C took first place in the 14 km Fitness Ride. Rojan Varghese and Ajith S came second and third.
All the kids who participated were declared winners.
The Trivandrum Cyclathon, the only mass cycling event in Kerala, is
organised by Stark Communications in association with Silk Air, with the aim of promoting cycling as a healthy lifestyle. It is supported by cycling clubs such as Indus Cycling Embassy and Trivandrum Bikers Club. Bergamont Bicycles and Master Card are event partners.
