KOCHI:
The acute shortage of candidates qualified as per UGC norms is hampering appointment of Professors in the University, said Dr J Letha, Cusat V.C, She was addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of the renewed Ship Model Making Lab at Department of Ship Technology.
Sunny Thomas, Director (Technical) of Cochin Shipyard Limited inaugurated and handed over the renovated lab. He exhorted the students to come forward with new worthwhile projects which would be whole-heartedly supported by CSL.
Later, Sunny Thomas also inaugurated the working of the Vertical Band Saw Machine installed in the lab. The function was presided over by Dr. Mariamma Chacko, HOD, Ship Technology Department. Dr K Sivaprasad and Rahul S.G spoke on the occasion.
The renovation of the lab was undertaken utilising the Rs 25 Lakhs financial assistance from the Cochin Shipyard under its corporate social responsibility initiative.
