KOCHI:
Regional Sports Centre, Cochin is re-vamping its Table Tennis Academy with coaches from Intaglio Consultancy, a private consultancy started by Bobby Joseph (trained under Jorgen Person of Sweden, former World Champion and World Number One) and M R Rajeev (former Kerala State Champion and NIS Gold Medalist).
They will be ably assisted by current coaches P.C. Rani (former Kerala State Women’s Champion) and Shantanu Rrscoy (from West Bengal). Bobby Joseph and M R Rajeev are the coaches of Indian International Maria Rony and Sereha Jacob, both from Alappuzha.
They have also produced several National & State Players. There will be two levels of coaching in RSC ie. Beginner’s Level and Advanced & Elite Level with separate physical training sessions for both categories.
Video Analysis for Technical Training and Match Analysis for Tactical Training will also be organized for the benefit of the players. Presently, there are 33 trainees in RSC Table Tennis Academy (16 in the beginner’s category and 17 in advanced category).
Training is imparted in seven tables and can have more tables depending on the no. of trainees. Training in one table will be imparted by a robot.
RSC wishes to raise the standard of game to National and International levels with the introduction of these two coaches. Admission is open for 20 more new trainees. Registration will be on first-come-first-served basis. The training sessions will begin from 4th January 2016 onwards.
