  • Pragmatic Intervention of Universities in Civic Issues is Inevitable: Dr. E. Sreedharan

    KOCHI:
    “Pragmatic intervention of Universities in civic issues inevitable” said Dr. E. Sreedharan while inaugurating Sathrayan 2018 at Cochin University of Science and Technology.
    He said that Cusat should have a pro-active role in resolving civic issues faced by Kochi including water logging, mosquito menace, lack of proper drainage etc. He also opined that Cusat should have made meaningful intervention in highly complex engineering projects like construction of Kochi Metro.
    He stressed the need for inculcating value based education by the Universities with special emphasis on culture, character formation, cleanliness, empathy etc. He urged the young generation to uphold the values of culture and heritage of our country.
    He also advised the researchers that it is not the financial benefit that arise out of the consultancy work undertaken and to consider each assignment as an opportunity to serve the society for its betterment. The function was presided over by Dr. J. Letha, Cusat Vice Chancellor.
    Dr. P. G. Sankaran Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. N. Chandramohanakumar, Member Syndicate, Dr. Vasantha Gopal Member TSG RUSA, Dr. K. Girish Kumar Director IQAC, Dr. Supriya. M. H Co-ordinator Sasthrayan 2018 spoke at the function. Dr. M. Bhasi, Dr. K. Vanaja, Dr. Bijoy Antony Jose, Dr. Kiran Kumar. V. B, Dr. Sajeevan. T. P, Dr. Jayesh. P. and Dr. Abhilash. S., faculty members who received awards and honours in various fields and around 20 students who excelled in academics and other activities were also felicitated at the occassion. Later Dr. J. Letha inaugurated the exhibition Stalls set up at Sastrhayan 2018.
