By NE Reporter on July 1, 2016

    transgenders
New Delhi: Supreme Court has clarified that only transgenders will be treated as Third Gender and that lesbians, gays and Bisexual people do not come under this category.

The Court made this clarification when the Union government sought a modification of the earlier SC judgement on the category of transgenders.

In its 2014 judgement, the court had asked the government to provide reservation to transgenders in the socially backward category.
