  • Manipal Academy of Higher Education to Co-coordinate “Tuning India”

    BENGALURU:
    “Tuning India”, an Erasmus plus capacity building project, brings together 15 Indian Universities along with 5 European University partners to achieve excellence, expansion and equity in higher education areas of medicine, law, teacher education and ICT.
    The project coordinated by Dr Pablo Beneitone and Dr Ivan Dyukarev is based on the results of a feasibility study launched by the European commission through the Tuning Academy, University of Deusto in cooperation with the Indian government to contribute to the strategic objectives of reforming Higher Education in India.
    Preserving the rich diversity of education has been paramount in the tuning project while considering the main challenges for internationalization of higher education. Academics, students, alumni, employers and other relevant stakeholders from the country will be involved in the process of (re)designing degrees to make them learner-centred, comparable and compatible as well as relevant for the society.
    Inaugurating the first general meeting of the project at Radisson Blu Atria, Bengaluru, Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dr H Vinod Bhat said “internationalization and harmonization of higher education, facilitating student mobility and creating opportunities for education in a different cultural setting are the first steps to creating excellence”. Dr Pablo Beneitone, Director, Tuning Academy, University of Deusto, Bilbao, Spain & Chief coordinator of the project introduced the Tuning Methodology to the partner universities.
    Dr Ivan Dyukarev, Project Manager gave a general introduction to the Tuning India project. Dr Shyamala Hande, Deputy Registrar-Academics, Health Sciences, MAHE represented the subject area of Medicine and Dr Preetham Kumar, Deputy Registrar-Academics, Technical, MAHE represented ICT area of the project. The total budget of the project is almost 1 million Euros and the project is to be completed by October 2020.
