KOZHIKODE:
The Oushadha Biksha Yatra will pass through temples in Kannur, Kozhikode and Malappuram on Wednesday during its home-bound journey to Koothttukulam from where it was flagged off last month to tour 114 temples in the state to collect medicines and herbs from people.
The itinerary of the road show includes Sree Ramaswami temple and Sree Jagannath temple, Thalassery, Sree Krishna temple, Mahe, Kadambuzha Bhagvathi temple, Thirunaavaya Nava Mukunda temple and Ganapathi temple, Vadakara.
The Yatra, a specially designed vehicle carrying the idol of Oushadheswari (Goddess of Wellness), has covered most of the major temples spread around various districts since it got under way on June 27 from Sreedhareeyam Oushadeswari temple in Koothattukulam. In its return journey, it will touch 39 more temples.
‘Oushadha Seva’ will start when the Yatra returns to Koothatukulam.
It has been an age old tradition in Kerala to take specially prepared medicines and follow a strict regimen of simple diet and oil bath in the month of Karkitakam (broadly July-August), to re-energise body and the mind.
Medicines, herbs and other ingredients collected during the campaign from around the state would go into the making of the special ‘Karkitaka” medicine package, which will be distributed among the people.
