  • Apollo Hospitals Forays into Kerala

By NE Reporter on November 29, 2018

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. today announced their foray into Kerala by signing an operations and management contract relating to a 250 bedded super-speciality hospital in the fast developing town of Angamaly, the northernmost suburb of Kochi, with the Adlux Group as infrastructure partners.

Apollo Hospitals would be responsible for all operations and management of the hospital. The announcement was made by Dr Prathap C Reddy, executive chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group in the presence of the Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan at an event in Trivandrum to discuss new trends in cancer care.

Located close to Kochi international airport, the Apollo Adlux Hospital, scheduled to begin operations in four to six months, would provide world class healthcare services to people of all socio-economic strata in this region.

Announcing the new hospital, Dr Reddy said, “The 250 beds Apollo Adlux Hospital will have 50 beds exclusively dedicated for critical care. The hospital will begin services as a tertiary care hospital with an advanced oncology section planned for the next phase. The hospital will provide 24X7 round-the-clock super speciality treatment with experienced specialist doctors.”

World class equipment with advanced technology like MRI, 128 slice CT Scan, Cardiac cathlab, mammogram etc. with state of the art laboratory and emergency facilities will position the hospital as one of the best in the region. PET Scan and Linac to be equipped in the next phase will serve to strengthen the services to the patients. Super Speciality department like cardiac care, trauma care, orthopaedics, neurosciences, gastrosciences, kidney, with all affiliated specialities and sub specialities will be the hallmark of Apollo Adlux Hospital, he said.

On the occasion, Apollo Hospitals also announced its support to rebuild the infrastructure of primary healthcare centres (PHCs) damaged as a result of the recent floods in Kerala in collaboration with the state government.

Under the agreement, Apollo Hospitals would reconstruct the PHC at Kakkodi, Kozhikode District and hand it over to the government.

Commenting on the same, Dr Reddy said, “It is our responsibility as healthcare custodians to contribute to the well-being of the people who have faced nature’s fury this year. This PHC is a small gesture of our support to aid them in their recovery from the natural disaster.”

Speaking at the event, the chief minister of Kerala said that the state is known for high quality of life and has topped the health index as a result of better health infrastructure and services. He said that these advantages are now being challenged by new lifestyle diseases, adding that the threat has to be addressed through joint efforts of all the stakeholders.

The hospital is designed as per international standards to ensure smooth patient flow and best in class patient experience. With world class infrastructure and cutting-edge medical technology, internationally benchmarked practices and a team of leading healthcare experts, the Apollo Adlux Hospital will provide high quality patient-centric experience.

The hospital is part of the complex which currently hosts the Adlux Group’s International Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is the largest in South India.

Expressing his passion for healthcare, Puzhekadavil Sudheesan, promoter and director, Adlux Group said, “I am happy to associate with the Apollo Hospitals Group to bring the best world-class healthcare services to the people of Kerala. Proximity to the airport will be a major factor for the development of medical value tourism, as it will provide easy access, especially to patients from West Asia.”
