  • National Welding Seminar Inaugurated at Kochi

    KOCHI:
    The three day national welding seminar being organised by the The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW – India) was inaugurated by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), CMD, Madhu S Nair.

    The sovenior of the National Welding Seminar 2018 was also released on the occasion. Inaugurating the seminar, Madhu S Nair said that Indian Institute of Welding is playing a major role in the industrial welding sector of our country.

    Open discussions in this regard will help in the development of the welding sector. He said that relationship between academy and industry will create more job opportunities and extended all support for the Institute.

    Indian Institute of Welding national president Dr Arunkumar Bhadhuri said that welding institutes are not getting due recognition in the education sector. He pointed out that the seminars of these kind will help in discussing about the new technologies in welding sector and reaching out these knowledge to more people.

    Around 350 delegates are be participating in the seminar and 90 presentations will be made on modern welding technologies. Managing Directors of various companies will speak on topics like skill development and role of welding technology on national development.

    This is the first IIW national seminar being conducted in Kerala. Welding Technology experts, researchers, welding professionals and academic experts will be participating in the three day seminar. The latest welding technology, robotics welding demo also will be held at Bolgatty Palace.

    IIW-India secretary general Parimal Biswas, IIW-Cochin vice chairman A Prasad Kumar, P Govindan Kutty and Jose P Philip participated in the inaugural function.

    Established in 1966 with its registered office at Kolkata, it has 13 branches located at Bangalore, Baroda, Bhilai, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Tiruchirapalli, Vishakhapatnam, Pune and Hyderabad. IIW has over 4000
    welding professionals and more than 300 industries as members. IIW Cochin branch is providing training programs for young professionals. These training programs are being conducted as part of Cochin Shipyard’s CSR activity with the support of Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Vaduthala. 110 young professionals have till now completed this five month duration program. Practical sessions of 540 hours and theory session of 600 hours is included in this program.
