  • CM Says Kerala has Made Major Strides in 1000 Days

By NE Reporter on February 26, 2019

    ALAPPUZHA:
Kerala has made major strides in all sectors in 1000 days since the present government assumed office, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today said while launching the work of Rs 49-crore District Indoor Stadium at Chengnannur.

The state was passing through a phase of great disappointment before the government came to power. This trend has been completely reversed in 1000 days and the state has made impressive achievements in all areas, the Chief Minister said, after inaugurating the project.

Important projects like road development, which remained stuck on the ground, had been revived and put on the right track and is progressing in good speed, Vijayan said.

In tourism sector the state had advanced by leaps and bounds, adding new destinations to the map and creating facilities to receive visitors all over the state, besides ensuring gainful engagement to local communities, the Chief Minister said.

The state-of-the art stadium is being developed at 19.7 acres of land, provided by the Chengannur Municipality.

Once completed, the stadium, with a capacity to accommodate 15,000 viewers at a time, will have a football ground, two pavilions on the eastern and western sides, players’ rooms, VIP lounge-cum-office wing, media room, rest rooms and commercial outlets.

A synthetic hockey turf of international standard, an eight-lane 400m synthetic track, swimming pool of Olympic specifications and water harvesting facilities are some of the added features of the complex.

Saji Cheriyan MLA presided over the function. Former MLA and Khadi Board vice chairperson Sobhana George and former MP Thomas Kuthiravattom, district sports council president P J Joseph and elected representatives from the area attended the function.

District collector S Suhas and Sanjayan Kumar, Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, spoke at the function. Veteran sports persons and coaches were honoured at the function. A mass run and cycle rallies were organised to mark the occasion.
