  • Actress Pearle Maaney’s FB Group Distributes KFL Feed to Farmers

By NE Reporter on September 5, 2019

    WAYANAD:
A social-media group made good use of an initiative by Kerala Feeds Limited (KFL) by distributing 100 sacks of cattle feed to flood-affected dairy farmers through the PSU’s Snehasparsham relief project.

The Facebook group run by fans of actress and video jockey Pearle Maaney distributed the KFL feed of 50 kg per sack for free this week after its members contacted the PSU, which handed them over the product with a discount on the price. The FB group with 8,000 members took the decision after rugged Kurumani of this district was cut off following heavy monsoon rains last month. The residents of this village near Kalpetta are primarily into dairy farming, prompting the FB group to go for distribution of cattle feed, organisers said.

That was when the group members chose to get in touch with the 1995-founded KFL, headquartered at Kallettumkara near Irinjalakuda of Thrissur district.

KFL Managing Director Dr B Sreekumar said it was heartening that people at large are taking up a relief project the PSU learned for the benefit of dairy farmers. He recalled that it was in Kalpetta of this district that KFL had inaugurated its Snehasparsham (‘Touch of Love’) project last year after major floods and landslides in Kerala.

“We are happy that quite a few farmers have benefited from ‘Snehasparsham’. The project is proving to be a viable also for the public that is interested in helping dairy farmers,” Dr Sreekumar noted. “We look forward to more such cooperative efforts.”

At Tuesday’s function in St Sebastian’s Church in Kurumani, Padinjarethara panchayat president Naushad M P distributed the KFL feed. St Sebastian’s Church Vicar Fr Sebastian Puthen and panchayat member Harris C E took part in the function that was attended by members of the FB group.
