THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The English Indian Clays Limited has expressed its gratitude to the State Government, the State Industries Minister E P Jayarajan, the State Industries Secretary Muhammed Hanish, Department of Mining and Geology for to grant permission for mining at its own Mines at Thonnakkal and trusts that the government would help get the approval for its other leases so the company can start its operations fully. The company officials indicated the support from the President Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The company was forced to shut its operations due to the denial of permission to mine at the facility. The mining directorate the other day completed the inspection required for the same and granted permission for one of the leases.
However, it is to be noted that with this sanction has come for mining only in limited areas that would meet the RM requirement for roughly 1/3rd of the total production capacity of the company. The EICL in a statement said that as per the communications and discussions with the Minister, Industry Secretary and DMG, the company would be getting other leases also released shortly and that would help the company to start the production shortly.
