By NE Reporter on August 6, 2021

    KOCHI:
Kerala Government has included antibody cocktail treatment in its covid protocol to control Covid related mortality and other complications. The antibody cocktail treatment will be used in the high-risk category patients. As per the new norms which were released by the state government on august 5 (Thursday), if anyone tested positive can take the antibody treatment. This method will help to reduce the mortality rate as well as a hospital stay. Kerala is the first state in India to include this therapy in the protocol. This treatment method will be of great relief in the context of rising Covid rates in the state.

It is a treatment that helps reduce hospitalizations and mortality. This treatment is an injection of Casirivimab-Imdevimab. It can be used both in symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. The therapy is know as monoclonal antibody cocktail therapy.

These drugs are specifically formulated to neutralize the SARS COV-2 virus. CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organization) has approved the use of this therapy for in India. Currently, the drug has been successfully used in many patients in the country with the approval of the Drug Controller of India. Kerala has received about 2200 doses. medicine from the Central Government. This treatment also comes under insurance coverage.
