KOZHIKODE:
Beyond its established presence in the Middle East, USA, United Kingdom and East Asia by providing cyber-security services to 150 clients, Wattlecorp Labs is tapping the market in automotive and social engineering in the UK and America.
The moves comes when social engineering cyber security is gaining increasing prominence the world over, according to Zuhair Elambilassery, founder CEO of the six-year-old company that functions at Cyberpark Kozhikode. “Employees of companies are likely to flout the cyber security norms deliberately or otherwise. Wattlecorp will take note of such possibilities, while also meeting the traditional cyber-security requirements and testing them,” he revealed.
Further, Wattlecorp is into red teaming, which is a cyber-security exercise that fully simulates a real-life attack to help measure how well an organization can withstand malicious actors in the virtual world. Substantiating, company co-founder and CTO Karthik Kalathil said this service, where the red team uses techniques that hackers do to avoid detection, is vital considering that cybercrimes are no more done from just some remote corner. “Instead, they are being done by organized groups functioning much like a technology firm,” he noted, pointing out that red-teaming will also test the defence-readiness of the internal security team.
Companies across sectors in the Gulf have their own cyber-security specifications. Wattlecorp ensures the norms are met.
Cyberpark General Manager Vivek Nair said that IT hub has companies capable of providing services to many sectors. “Of late, we at Kozhikode see several companies emerging on the model of Wattlecorp. Cyberpark has been trying to extend all possible support,” he pointed out.
Top clients of Wattlecorp include Casio, Toyota, UAE-based AFNIC (Al Fujairah National Insurance Company), Abu Dhabi National Hotels, Emirates Medical Association and Orange Mobiles. CEO Elambilassery had earlier this year got elected as the chairman of Cyber Security Group of Dubai Chamber of Commerce, becoming the first Malayali to head the Cybersecurity Group of the non-profit society working to support the business community in Dubai.
In the UK, Wattlecorp handles the cyber-security yardsticks related to vehicle software. The company is now engaged in developing cyber-security suite as a virtual security consultant.
