Dheeraj, a 44-year-old native of Kattoor in Thrissur district, gave new life to 4 people in his passing by donating his organs. He was pronounced brain dead from Aster Medcity on Tuesday. It is Dheeraj’s family who has volunteered to donate his organs in accordance with Dheeraj’s earlier wishes.
After being admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur due to severe headache and vomiting, earlier this month, Dheeraj was diagnosed with excessive bleeding in the brain and was shifted to a private hospital in Ernakulam. After undergoing surgery at a private hospital on the 7th of this month, Dheeraj’s condition worsened and he was transferred to Aster Medcity. Later on, Tuesday at 7.15 pm, he was declared brain dead.
Dheeraj’s liver was transplanted into a 46- year-old man from Puthenchira, Thrissur who is being treated at Aster Medcity, Kochi. One of his kidneys was given to Kottayam Government Medical College and the other to the Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi. Both the corneas were donated to Giridhar Eye Hospital, Kochi
Dheeraj is the son of George and Mary, residents of Kattoor, Thrissur, he leaves behind his brother Sooraj, his wife Jifna Dheeraj, and children Kripa Maria, Chrismario, Cristiano and Charismaria.
