By NE Reporter on March 1, 2019

    KOCHI:
Academy of Media & Design (AMD) launches its first training center at Cochin in association with Adobe. The MoU with Adobe allows AMD to become Adobe Creative Technology Academy ( ACTA), first of its kind in Kerala.

The official launch of AMD will be done by T P Ramakrishnan, Minister for Excise, Labour & Skills at Holiday Inn, Cochin at 12pm on 4 th March 2019. ACTA announcement will be done by Supreeth Nagaraju A, Head – Education , Digital Media; India & South Asia ,Adobe Systems India Pvt. Ltd. in the presence of Garima Babbar, Head Strategic Alliances(Education and Skill Development), Adobe Systems India Pvt. Ltd.

The affiliation certificate from Media & Entertainment Skills Council functioning under National Skill Development Corporation will be handed over by Mohit Soni, Chief Operating Officer, MESC. AMD is promoted by Dr. Babu Joseph & Dr. Sheela Francis, two veteran academicians with doctoral level qualification in their respective field.

Philip Thomas, Chief Executive officer comes with almost two decades of experience in skill development space especially in media & design sector. A huge demand is expected from the market for professionally trained designers in the near future both in India and abroad, and under the present circumstances, only one-fifth of the potential is realized yet.

In an environment where designers are engaged for and engaged in different job functions in design departments of companies and consultancies, a design job has several occupations, applications and expectation. The need for professionally trained designers is increasing every year and this prompted the promoters of AMD to launch an academy to address this market need.

We at AMD focus on a single subject: preparing aspiring designers with the skill set and certification for promising careers. Courses and curriculums at AMD have been curated in a manner that allows potential graduates to master skills that enhance the innovative and creative capacity.

AMD is supported by a very strong and diverse advisory board which includes National Institute of Design ( NID) alumnus, designers, film makers, animators, game developers, researchers, educationist, technologist, fine artist and industry experts.

Courses are curated to ensure right mix of Art, Design and technology which will ensure industry ready professionals. The company has already trained and place 100 students in last 4 months. According to Philip Thomas, CEO – AMD, the association with Adobe for launching a training center, first of its kind in Kerala, will provide an opportunity for AMD students to leverage Adobe’s tools to harness their creative skills and gain an edge that will help them succeed in their career journeys across fields. Making our courses future-ready has been the ethos of AMD and we are confident that this association with Adobe will set new benchmarks in learning and creativity”.

As a partner of Adobe, AMD will be implementing wide range of software in labs for photography and design, video and audio production as well as various web and mobile development applications to help students learn beyond traditional skills and to foster greater creativity in the classroom.
