KOCHI:
Aleyamma Thomas (Leena), Member of the Mar Thoma Church has been unanimously elected as the Vice President of the National Council of Churches in India at the quadrennial General Assembly held at Jabalpur for the year 2016 –2020. She is the first woman from the Mar Thoma Church to hold this post.
She was a member of the Mar Thoma Sabha Council and also member of ecumenical relations Commission of the Mar Thoma Church. She is actively involved in the programs of World Council of Churches and Christian Conference of Asia. She is a post graduate and holds degree in Theology and also has a post graduate diploma in Alternate Dispute Resolution.
Wife of Roy P.Thomas IFS, Joint Director in MoEFCC, New Delhi and she is from Maramon Palakkunnath Family. NCCI is an ecumenical forum of Protestant and Orthodox churches in India comprising of 30 member
Churches, 17 Regional Councils, 17 All India Christian Organisations and 7 Related Agencies.
It is an inter- confessional autonomous council which promotes and coordinates activities responsible for life and
witness, upholding human dignity through members in partnership with civil society, NGO’s at local,
national, international level.
