From the 30th October 2017, Vigilance Awareness Week is observed with the theme ‘My Vision- Corruption Free India’ at Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway. The drive included railway staff, passengers and contractors, students, teachers and eminent personalities. The major activities undertaken include;
An Anti Fraud Squad has been formed with senior Travelling Ticket Examiners of impeccable Integrity to detect and prevent corruption by conducting surprise checks, They have already started to identify irregularities.
Awareness program for railway employees
Conducted an essay competition for railway staff on the topic My Vision-Corruption Free India and a quiz competition on vigilance and general awareness.
Meetings with Railway contractors, Passenger associations
A meeting of railway contractors and passenger associations with Vigilance officers was conducted at Divisional Railway Managers’s office, Trivandrum for the first time to know directly about any complaints regarding corruption in railways. The meeting was attended by Representative of Passenger Associations and Contractors K J Paul Manvettom, Manikantan O S, Poovachal Sudharsanan, Muttacad Raveendran Nair, T E Dasan, B Anil Kumar, Mujeeb S, R Subhash Chandran and Sreedhar S V.
Outreach programs on vigilance awareness at Schools and Colleges
Poster design competition at Government college for women, Thiruvananthapuram and Saraswati Vidyalaya, Vattiyoorkavu on Vigilance awareness. These posters will be exhibited at Thiruvananthapuram central station for five days from November 4. An Elocution competition was also conducted at Governement Girls Higher Seconday School, Ernakulam.
Anti corruption sensitization program for railway staff
P C Cyriac, former chief secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu addressed a seminar on vigilance and Anticorruption where he shared his thoughts and experiences for railway officials.
Rishi Raj Singh, Excise Commissioner and DGP Government of Kerala spoke at an in house session for the railway staff on the topic ‘Methods to Fight Corruption’ at the Divisional Railway Managers office, Thycaud, Thiruvananthpuram.
The participation of passengers and general public in eradicating corruption from railway is essential. The following methods may be used for reporting about corruption in railways.
The vigilance toll free number 155210 to report about corruption in railways
The official twitter handle of Thiruanananthapuram Division @DRM138 can be used to report corruption, also dial 138 for passenger grievance and 182 RPF security helpline.
Those who report corruption can request for not revealing their identity which will be honored.
