  • Artificial Chicken will Reduce Immunisation: Study

By NE Reporter on November 29, 2017

    KOCHI:
A study revealed that consumption of artificial chicken can lead to immunisation of human body.
The study was conducted by School of Biosciences, MG University. The study found out that antibiotics are used in poultry feeds for quick growth of chicken in farms. Antibiotics are used in large quantity at these poultry feeds.
Some poultry farms are also injecting these antibiotics to chicken for its growth and ensure that it attains more weight. Usually a chicken which is of six weeks weights only 1.8 kg.
However, chicken which are brought from Tamil Nadu weighs more than 2 kg. These chickens are more hard than the normal chicken and it is not easy to cook.
If these antibiotics reach human body, it kills bacteria which prevents diseases. When these bacteria is destroyed, it will reduce immunisation power of our body and can cause diseases.
The presence of antibiotics are seen in the environment as chicken waste is thrown carelessly without any proper treatment. The study also says that the bacteria in the environment too are destroyed when the waste is not treated properly.
Around 40 lakh of chicken in brought from Tamil Nadu to Kerala in a week. This is 96 per cent of the consumption In Kerala.
As per the statistics of Animal Husbandy Department around 46.88 crore kg of meat is consumed in Kerala. Of this 18.87 crore kg is chicken.
The study suggests that chicken farms run by Kudumbasree and other farmers group in Kerala should be encouraged for natural farming.
