By NE Reporter on February 22, 2017

    KOCHI:
A sizeable crowd gathered at the Government General Hospital here today to listen to noted singers Rieta Bineesh and P C Joji at the weekly ‘Arts and Medicine’ show organised by Kochi Biennale Foundation.
Beginning with a Christian devotional song, ‘Kalvari kunnile karunyame’, Rieta offered up a musical treat for patients, bystanders and hospital staff. Joji followed it up with the song ‘Ammave Vanangathe UyiAnM_Rieta&Joji 1rillaye’.
In total, the duo sang around 13 songs , including Tamil and Hindi songs and added flavour to the show with a duet, ‘ Akale Neelakasham’. The vocalist Joji concluded the show with a rendition of the evergreen number, ‘Madaprave Vaa’ from the movie, Madanolsavam. The selection of songs worked the magic of creating a nostalgic ambience in the hospital premises.

“Singing at a hospital amidst patients and bystanders is a totally different experience . Stage shows are completely on a different level, here we get instant response and the advantage on
e gets to reach out to people in distress is more”, said Joji.
Rieta who has worked as a keyboard teacher said, “Music is enjoyed for its curative properties and it transports us to a stage where we tend to forget our problems at least temporarily”.
The musical show organised by Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Mehboob Memorial Orchestra and Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Limited draws in a fair crowd every week at the hospital premises. This week marked the 158th edition of the show intended to bring solace to patients through therapeutic music.
