  • Biennale Music: Trio of Singers Presents Soulful Melodies at General Hospital

By NE Reporter on November 8, 2017

    KOCHI:
The melodious tunes of Tere Mere Beech Mein from the blockbuster movie ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’ wafted across the premises of the Government General hospital as singers Nazir Ali, Shiny Joju and Thajudheen teamed up to present a soulful performance at the weekly ‘ Arts and Medicine’ show organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation.
Arts and Medicine is an all-Wednesday joint initiative of the Kochi Biennale Foundation and Mehboob Memorial orchestra, sponsored by CAFS (Casino Air Caterers & Flight Services), aimed at providing solace to patients through therapeutic music.
Over the weeks, several talented singers have shared the stage to perform for an audience consisting of patients, bystanders and medical staff. The 194th edition of the programme this week featured Nazir, Shiny and Thajudheen, who are from different professions, but are bound together by music, and who displayed their singing talent effortlessly.
Nazir, a native from Thrissur and an ardent fan of legendary singer Kishore Kumar, sang five Hindi solos and two Hindi duets with Shiny. Thajudheen, Nazir’s brother, crooned Thane Poovitta Moham, Melle Melle Mukapadam and Mera Jeevan kora Kaagaz.
Mere Sapnon ki Rani from the movie ‘Aradhana’, originally sung by Kishore Kumar, and recreated here by Nazir, concluded the hour-long musical show. The team sang 13 songs, and each rendition was met with enthusiastic applause. Nazir, a saw mill owner, pursues music as a passion, while his brother Thajudheen is in the opticals business. Shiny, a professional singer, also owns a restaurant in Fort Kochi.
