  • CUSAT and Bamboo Corporation Signs MOU

    KOCHI:
    Cochin University of Science and Technology and Kerala State Bamboo Corporation Limited signed an MoU for Industrial-Academic co-operation. The main objective is to collaborate on the production of products using natural raw materials.

    The MoU was signed for research into the production of natural phenol from cashew oil for use in the manufacture of bamboo products. The research will be conducted under the leadership of Dr. Honey John, Professor, CUSAT Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology and Emeritus Scientist Dr. C.P. Raghunadhan. The MoU was signed between Dr. Benjamin Varghese P (Registrar-in-Charge, CUSAT) and Bamboo Corporation Chairman K.J. Jacob. Vice Chancellor Dr. K.N. Madhusoodanan and Bamboo Corporation Chairman K.J. Jacob exchanged the MoUs.

    P. Rajeeve, Minister for Law, Industries and Coir, joined the meeting online. “The MoU between CUSAT and the Bamboo Corporation will strengthen the Kerala Government’s efforts to ensure industry-academia co-operation”, said Minister Rajeeve. The Vice-Chancellor and Bamboo Corporation Chairman expressed their great hope in the forthcoming partnership. Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. P.G. Sankaran, Dr. Sunil K. Narayanankutty, Head, Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology, Dr. Honey John, Bamboo Corporation board members and engineers also attended the ceremony.
