  • CUSAT: Team Crack Hack Winners at MAKE-A-TON Hackathon

    KOCHI:
    The third edition of ‘MAKE-A-TON’,48-hour hackathon organized by Center for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Industrial Collaboration (CITTIC) at Cochin University of Science and Technology has concluded.

    The event was inaugurated on 31st October 2020 by Vice Chancellor Prof. K N Madhusoodanan. Prasad Balakrishnan Nair,Chief Executive Officer of Maker Village was the chief guest. Dr. Sam Thomas, Director, CITTIC and Martin George spoke. ‘MAKE-A- TON’ hackathon aims to bring together phenomenal minds from different
    disciplines to embrace the spirit of innovations.

    Team Crack Hackbagged the first prize for creating an interactive Web Platform in which teachers can interact with their students through video, and also with a real time interactive 3D model of the portion they are taking. Team Genic from Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor with their E-health platform for Doctors, clinics and hospitals bagged the runner-up prize. A special prize for the most socially impactful project was given to Team Schrodinger. They developed an online teaching solution which can be used even with very low internet connectivity. Team BroCode was awarded the ‘Hack 4 CUSAT’ prize for developing digital solutions catering to problems faced by students in the university.

    The event was a huge success with 130+ registrations. Students were actively involved throughout the 48 hours to develop their solutions. Entrepreneurs from various startups provided continuous mentoring for the participants.The hackathon also included interactive sessions by experts from the industry. SumanDebnath, AWS Developer Advocate gave a session titled ‘Art of the possible’ on Artificial Intelligence. HariShanker, WordPress Community Manager at Automattic shared his views on taking your office online and AmritSanjeev, Staff Developer Advocate at Google gave valuable insights to participants on ‘Building better products – from Hackathon to production’. Sreekumar VM, General Manager, SFO technologies, Dhanaj KM of KSUM andHariShankerformed the judges panel.
