KOCHI:
Kochauseph Chittilppilly to financially assist the project to de silt and clean Mullassery canal, conceptualized and being implemented under the leadership and guidance of metro man of the country, E. Sreedharan.
Kochauseph Chittilappilly Foundation (KCF) has donated rupees 10 lakhs for the project which aims to find a permanent solution for the drainage issues of Kochi city. The study conducted by Esteem Developers in 2002 proves that the water logging in the city is caused by the obstructions in the Mullassery canal. The estimated cost of the project is rupees 1 crore. Not being funded by the Kochi Corporation, the project is being undertaken by Foundation for Restoration of National Values (FRNV) with the financial assistance of various organizations.
On the occasion of receiving cheque from Kochauseph Chittilppilly, E. Sreedharan said that: “ the initiative to clean Mullassery canal under the leadership of DMRC will be completed before 31st May.” George Sleeba, executive director of KCF, V. Sathyanarayanan, senior partner of Varma & Varma chattered accountants and Dr. Devika Menon, convener of FRNV were there at the occasion.
