

PALAKKAD: Dr. R. Bindu, the Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice in Kerala, in the presence of K. Prabhakaran, MLA, inaugurated the first-ever Industry-on-Campus Initiative at Government Polytechnic College. In collaboration with, the Pride of Kerala award winner, Genrobotics, the startup that introduced the World’s First Robotic Scavenger, Bandicoot. This initiative will function as a manufacturing unit for advanced robotic solutions of Genrobotics.
This facility, part of the Kerala Government’s Industry on Campus (IoC) program, will serve as a hub for manufacturing advanced robotic solutions by Genrobotics, including Bandicoot 2.0, Bandicoot Mobility Plus and other ongoing projects. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices by providing students with training under the guidance of industry experts. Through this program, students will gain valuable insights into real-world operations and work with advanced technologies, preparing them with the skills needed for careers in high-demand sectors such as robotics, healthcare and renewable energy.
As part of this partnership, selected students from the Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical departments of Govt Polytechnic College Palakkad, will have the opportunity to gain direct experience at the Genrobotics unit. Dr. M. Pradeep, the State Coordinator for the project and Head of the Mechanical Department at the Polytechnic College, along with Dr. P. Dileep, the Principal-in-charge, shared details of the initiative. The students will spend certain hours on the manufacturing unit for their training and for which stipend will be provided to them by Genrobotics.
With its broader vision, Genrobotics is committed to equipping the younger generation with expertise in robotics, ensuring these technologies are more widely available. This initiative not only supports the students’ development but also aligns with Genrobotics’ mission to contribute to the growth of skilled professionals, while strengthening the local technological ecosystem. This marks Genrobotics’ second such initiative, further strengthening its commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry. Through this collaboration, local innovation will be fostered, giving students greater access to advanced technology and providing them with the tools needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. Genrobotics, with its broader vision, is committed to equipping the younger generation with expertise in robotics, ensuring these technologies are more widely available.

It offers students greater opportunities for their future while shaping a new generation equipped with advanced technological skills. Genrobotics, known for tackling urban sanitation challenges through robotics, developed Bandicoot to eliminate manual scavenging. The company has earned several accolades, including the BIRAC Innovation with High Social Impact Award, Kerala Startup Award recognition and showcasing its impact on technology and social change.
