JALANDHAR:
Moments after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stern address to the nation on Pakistan-backed terror, multiple drones were sighted over Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba, Udhampur, and Punjab’s Jalandhar, triggering security alerts and blackouts across sensitive regions.
Around 15 drones were seen hovering over the Northern Command and the Air Force Station in Udhampur, while five others were spotted near Katra. Visuals from Samba captured red streaks in the night sky accompanied by loud explosions, indicating India’s air defence systems were in action, intercepting suspected aerial threats.
In Punjab, drones were reported near key army installations in Jalandhar, particularly around Suranasi village. While explosions were heard, Jalandhar deputy commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal assured that the situation was under control. “Lights have been switched off in some areas as a precaution. There is nothing to worry. The Armed Forces are on regular vigil,” he said.
In Hoshiarpur, deputy commissioner Aashika Jain confirmed explosions in the Dasuya region. “We have coordinated with the Indian armed forces, who have been actively responding to drone sightings. Based on their inputs, blackouts were enforced in Dasuya and Mukeria,” she said.
The aerial threats came shortly after PM Modi launched a scathing attack on Islamabad over cross-border terrorism while speaking on Operation Sindoor. “Terror and talks cannot coexist. Terror and trade cannot go hand in hand. Water and blood can never flow together,” he asserted, reinforcing India’s tough stance on Pakistan.
Security forces remain on high alert across the region as investigations continue into the drone sightings and their origin.
