Raising the pitch against drug abuse, Technopark here became the venue of a friendly cricket match between teams comprising Members of the Kerala Legislative Assembly (Speakers’s XI) and techies’ sporting and cultural forum Prathidhwani here on Monday.
Speaker AN Shamseer inaugurated the match and Technopark Women’s Cricket League (TWCL)organised by Prathidhwani, the welfare and recreation forum of IT employees at Technopark.
The Speakers’ X1 led by MLA KV Sumesh had MLA’s PC Vishnunath, Rahul Mamkootathil, T Siddique, Chandy Oommen, Linto Joseph, K Premkumar, PP Sumod, M Vijin, H Salam, A Raja and MS Arun Kumar as players. Vineeth Chandran was the captain of Prathidhwani XI.
Prathidhwani XI won the match by 6 wickets even as Rahul Mamkootathil MLA, who scored 17 runs out of 8 balls besides taking two wickets, was adjudged man of the match.
After the match, both sides vowed to work ceaselessly for ridding the society of drug abuse.

Prathidhwani XI: 72/4 (7.1 overs)
Inaugurating the match, Shamseer said initiatives like this will further boost government’s efforts to raise awareness against drug abuse.
“Sports and cultural activities are also the best ways to reduce professional stress, and tournaments like this is a great way to alleviate work pressure and improve inter personal relationships,” Shamseer said.
In all, 25 teams from various companies in Technopark will participate in the Women’s Cricket League which will conclude by May first week.
The exhibition match between Prathidhwani Women’s XI and Infosys Women’s team was also held in the night, which saw Prathidhwani team beating reigning champions Infosys by 19 runs.
Arya Sarang of Prathidhwani Women’s XI was adjudged player of the match for scoring 33 runs from 13 balls.

Another friendly match between Prathidhwani XI and Media XI also ended in Prathidhwani team’s favour.
