This model ensures that smaller centers could access the large centers around them for complicated procedures.
Dr. D Ramamurthy, Chairman, The Eye Foundation, said, “We are convinced there is a huge unmet demand for quality eye care nationally and Kochi is no exception to this. Our aim is to provide tertiary eye care with a humane touch.” The Kochi centre with state of the art technology and a set of skilled senior ophthalmologists will offer quality eye care at affordable prices. The real strength of the eye foundation is the group of nearly 50 highly trained & motivated eye doctors, nearly 100 qualified optometrists & nearly 400 staff members. In order to introduce the world class facilities to the people of Kerala , The Eye Foundation, Kochi centre offers free Eye examination & consultation for the first 1 month, chairman announced.
The Eye Foundation is putting in place a strategy that will meet the needs of patients in at least a 100 kilometers radius around it by leveraging technology and mobile vans for reaching out to masses even in remote areas. As a pioneer in leveraging technology, The Eye Foundation has linked the entire hospital chain through robust electronic medical records system and processes to ensure patient database, case histories / studies & diagnostic tests are accessible to medical professionals across all centres. This besides facilitating speedy response also allows centers to source the most experienced hands to address critical eye disorders in a seamless manner.
All hospitals under the eye foundation group comply with the standards set by the National Accreditation Board of Hospitals (NABH). The Eye Foundation has a track record of more than three decades, treating millions of patients through super specialty eye hospitals located in the districts of Coimbatore, Bangalore, Tirupur and Nilgiris. Always at the cutting edge of technology the institution has to its credit several firsts in the field of Ophthalmology in the country. The Eye Foundation is amongst the first to introduce laser eye surgery both in laser refractive surgery as well as laser cataract surgery, which has greatly enhanced the precision of cataract operations.
The Eye Foundation has a dedicated charitable wing “Netra Jyothi Trust” which is engaged in reaching out to the underprivileged sections of the community through its charity centres Rajalakshmi Nethralaya at Coimbatore and Thirumurthy Nethralaya at Tirupur.
