As part of the World glaucoma awareness week The Eye Foundation Hospital, Edappaly, organizes a camp for Free Glaucoma Evaluation & Free consultation from 12th to 31st March. World Glaucoma week was conceptualized by world glaucoma association and world glaucoma patient association to bring about a widespread dissemination of information, educate people about this condition, screen many more of them and prevent a manageable catastrophe.
Glaucoma is a symptomless eye disease that silently steals vision with irreversible loss, if left undetected and untreated. Various studies show that 12.8 percent of the blindness in our country is due to glaucoma. More than 10 million Indians above the age of 40 years are likely to be inflicted with this disease every year. The disease being symptomless, periodical checkups are the only way to detect it.
