PANJIM:
FC Goa, in association with the Forca Goa Foundation and the All India Football Federation conducted a Grassroots Leaders Course at Fr. Agnel Ashram College Ground in Verna recently. 24 grassroots coaches from across Goa participated in the three-day course conducted by AIFF Instructors Gavin Araujo and Anju Turembekar. Participants were selected based on their playing experience and their involvement with grassroots football. The course was designed to tutor participants in AIFF’s Grassroots philosophy which is in tune with FIFA and AFC’s Grassroots philosophy.
Through practical and theory sessions, attendees understood the importance of Grassroots football and how to develop children during training. On the last day of the course, participants organised and conducted a football festival which was attended by 100 children.
The FC Goa youth coaches governed proceedings and conducted sessions while the Forca Goa Foundation helped to provide infrastructure required for the training. Eight Forca Goa Foundation grassroots coaches also participated in the training.
It is the endeavour of FC Goa and the Forca Goa Foundation to nurture children from a young age and develop them into thorough professional football players. For this reason, providing them with quality training is vital. The coaches that handle these children need to have the expertise to deal with them apart from having technical knowledge about the sport. By collaborating with the AIFF on such projects, the Forca Goa Foundation and FC Goa both hope to be able to also produce top level coaches who will be the foundation of a child’s career.
