SHARJAH:
The Sharjah Court has acquitted Sajesh Chodath Vasudevan, a native of Kannur Thaliparambu Kolacheri, who got into a legal entanglement after detecting fake attestation on his degree certificate. Sajesh got a favorable verdict after the legal proceedings made by Yab Legal Services in the complaint filed against the Ministry of Justice, accusing him of trying to cheat the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sharjah by affixing fake seals and stamps on his degree certificate.
The incident happened on July 2, 2024 in connection with job promotion. Sajesh got his 1998 degree certificate attested at his native place in 2010 through his friend and after 14 years, submitted it for attestation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sharjah in connection with the renewal of Iqama. The authorities checked the certificate and found that the seal of the UAE Embassy in Delhi on it was fake and Sajesh was handed over to the Sharjah Police, arrested and released in jail.
Then Sajesh who was in a crisis approached Yab Legal Services CEO Salam Pappinissery with the consent of his family. Later, the UAE lawyers of Yab Legal Services informed the prosecution in Sharjah that the case had been transferred to the Sharjah First Instance Court to take legal action against Sajesh from the side of the prosecution.
After carefully scrutinizing the arguments of the lawyer of Yab Legal Services and the documents including the memorandum, the Sharjah court was convinced that the fault was not on the part of Sajesh as he did not get enough documents to prove that he committed the crime intentionally and he denied the crime in all the interrogations. The court then ordered that the degree certificate be confiscated and the execution of the sentence suspended as it was used in a suspicious manner.
Salam Pappinissery explained that it has been learned that many expatriates in diaspora, especially Malayalees, have been involved in forgery attestation and many have been jailed and returned home after being deported. More and more people entrust unaccredited agents for attestation. Salam Pappinissery informed that attestation of certificate is the responsibility the expatriates and those who assign agents should be careful and otherwise they will have to face similar legal crisis.
