  • Fourth Batch of Students Inducted at VMSIIHE

    PANAJI:
    V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) recently inducted its fourth batch of students for the academic year 2017-18 at its campus in Raia. Also present along with the 60 odd students were their parents and guardians. This year VMSIIHE has witnessed admissions from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala students besides Goa. NRI students from Maldives and UAE have also joined the present batch.
    The induction ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Mirza, Director, VMSIIHE followed by an introduction of the faculty and the staff. The students were briefed about the culture of the institute and its legacy. The Director shared an overview of what an academic life at VMSIIHE can entail including internship programs at leading luxury hotels in India and abroad, the international exposure through collaboration with Institutes in Portugal and Switzerland. The students had an opportunity to interact with the faculty, staff as well as the second year students of the institute which helped them to get a better understanding of life on campus.
    Said Professor Irfan Mirza, Director, V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, “At VMSIIHE, we offer a unique curriculum and world class infrastructure to prepare the students for the ever changing needs of the hospitality industry. Our goal is to make this institute the center of excellence for the hospitality industry in India. We are here to ensure that all our students acquire the knowledge and skills that are unmatched in this field. The students have an opportunity to get trained under the guidance of senior industry and academic experts.”
    Brief sessions were conducted on the rules and regulations of the institute, anti-ragging policy, and academics and leadership program by Dr. I. Bhanumurthy, Administrator, VMSIIHE, Dr. Rachel Pereira, Asst. Professor General Management, VMSIIHE and Martha Rebello, Academic Co-ordinator and Compliance Officer, VMSIIHE.
    The new batch of students were brimming with excitement and enthusiasm at the start of the new academic year. Said Zaosh Namerian, hailing from Mumbai “The induction ceremony enabled me and my parents to get an overview of the college in a very graphic and detailed manner. The staff and second year students shared their experiences which gave a finer touch to the ceremony. I felt warm and at home throughout.”
    Further, Abygale D’souza added, “The induction ceremony was really resourceful and enlightening. The faculty and the staff of VMSIIHE are very motivational and inspiring and I look forward to gaining valuable skills over the next three years. The facilities provided by the Institute made me choose VMSIIHE to enhance my career.”
    The outstanding students of batches 2015-18 and 2016-19 were awarded certificates of excellence in academics, 100% attendance and leadership program.
    VMSIIHE is affiliated to Goa University and offers a 3 year B.Sc. degree in International Hospitality Management. The programme is designed to equip the students with practical training and necessary skills, with special attention to personality development, professional attitude and leadership qualities, which are essential to be a global managers of repute. The Institute has a tie up with Turismo de Portugal for an exchange programme and a strategic partnership with HTMi Switzerland for higher study options.
    The course boasts of a dedicated and experienced faculty, world-class infrastructure, interactions with industry experts, and educational tours to Europe, international exchange programmes and professional internships in reputed starred hotels in India and abroad.
