  • Global Impact Challenge to Showcase 25 Best Ideas

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    Around 25 startups across the country are set to showcase their ideas at the Global Impact Challenge (GIC) being organised by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) in collaboration with US-based Singularity University (SU) from July 2 to 7 at Technopark here.
    As per the schedule, the boot camp will be launched on July 2 and the finale to be conducted on July 7. The pitch day is scheduled on July 6. The SU is a global community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges.
    The India GIC is aimed at inspiring start-ups to find solutions to address global challenges in learning, healthcare and environment sectors.
    The KSUM has selected 25 finalists belonging to different states from the applications, which included 11 in healthcare, 8 in environment and 6 in education.
    Speakers and experts from various fields will address the event in different sessions. On the first day, Deepu Nath of Faya Innovations will give the opening address about the SU and the GIC.
    Hrishikesh Nair, CEO, Technopark will be delivering the welcome address while Dr Saji Gopinath, CEO, KSUM will talk about the Startup Ecosystem support. M. Sivasankar, Secretary IT, Government of Kerala, will speak on Kerala contest challenges on the first day.
    Later, the key-note presentation on the “Impact of technology on education” will be delivered by Dibya Prakash, Technology Strategist and Startup Advisor. The SU is a global community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges.
    The aim of the GIC is to foster moonshot innovations and startups that positively impact the lives of people, with an ability to scale and impact a billion people worldwide in 10 years. In the learning field, it aims at addressing skill shortage in emerging technologies and adoption of 21st century skill sets among the youth.
    In the environment segment, the India GIC targets solid waste management in urban and rural areas, besides focusing on controlling air and water pollution in cities. In Healthcare, it looks for solution for prevention, detection and treatment of diseases.
    On the final day, the best idea will be selected and taken for the SU Incubation programme that lasts for nine weeks. A host of tech talks as well as workshops will be held during the event.
