

KANNUR:
Kerala Government has approved a proposal of Tourism Department for the renovation of Melur Shiva Temple in Kannur district at a cost of Rs 1.72 crores.
The project includes construction of an Oottupura, modern kitchen facilities and improved toilet facilities.
“Melur Shiva Temple is a vibrant centre of spirituality and community life. The decision of the Government to allocate funds for the renovation of Melur Shiva Temple aligns with the state Tourism Department’s vision to promote cultural tourism which includes places of worship. These are also places of historical architecture with rich heritage and traditions which can attract tourists, especially foreigners,” said Minister for Tourism PA Mohamed Riyas.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Melur Shiva temple located in the village of Dharmadam near Thalassery in Kannur is managed by the Malabar Devaswom Board.
