

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Group of Technology Companies (GTECH), the industry body comprising more than 250 IT companies in Kerala, will organize the GTECH Kerala Marathon-2025 on February 9 (Sunday) in the capital to create increased public awareness about the prevalence of drugs abuse in the state and its ill effects, especially among young boys and girls.
The marathon, now in its third edition, will witness the participation of over 7,500 runners, making it the biggest marathon ever held in the state.
The event will bring together participants from diverse backgrounds, regardless of age, geography, gender or fitness levels. Student community from some of the leading colleges, IT professionals, central & state government employees, defense personnel and corporate members are expected to participate.
The marathon will feature three categories of runs: Half Marathon (21 km), 10 km, Fun Run (3 km – 5 km) for men, women and children, challenging participants to push their limits while supporting an important cause. This will complement the ‘Drugs Free Kerala’ campaign rolled out by the state government.

Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman, who unveiled the official logo of GTECH Kerala Marathon 2025 today, said, “The Kerala government is considering organizing marathons in various parts of the state in a bid to spread awareness about a healthy life. I laud the efforts of GTECH in this crusade.”
V K Mathews, Chairman, GTECH, said this is a coming together of more than one lakh IT professionals of Kerala for a common cause.
“As a responsible community, we take up emerging social issues that confront our state. The marathon is a reflection of this commitment. We will roll out a series of people-centric awareness campaigns leading up to the marathon in select educational institutions and all the IT parks of the state to sensitize the youth the need to make Kerala narcotics-free,” he added.
GTECH has partnered with ITEN Running Club and NBF Academy to train the participants of the marathon. In the lead-up to the event, a series of awareness campaigns will be conducted in select educational institutions and IT parks across the state, focusing on the importance of making Kerala a drug-free state. Technopark-based H&R Block is the title sponsor of the event.
