Heavy rain and thundershowers have started lashing several parts of Chennai. Cyclone Nada has been moving closer to the Tamil Nadu coast at a fast pace and is presently lying aro
In the wake of this, rain activity has increased significantly during the last two hours.
It is predicted that moderate to heavy showers continue throughout Thursday. Few places may also report very heavy showers.
Nada is likely to cross the Indian coast, south of Puducherry and close Cuddalore. However, system may start losing intensity as it nears the coast and increasing vertical wind shear.
However, it will not deter the system from giving moderate to heavy showers over Tamil Nadu including Chennai on December 2 as well.
Though intensity of rains has been light so far in Chennai, but it is expected to pick up pace any time now with Cyclone Nada nearing the Tamil Nadu coast.
