  • HLL Gives Away Pratheeksha Scholarships to Students

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    HLL Lifecare Limited (HLL) has distributed Pratheeksha Scholarships, instituted by its CSR initiative Pratheeksha Charitable Society, to 26 academically outstanding students seeking admissions in professional and technical courses for the academic year 2017-18. The CSR initiative is meant for supporting students belonging to the BPL category.
    The scholarships were distributed by E.A. Subramanian, Director (Technical & Operations) at a function held at HLL Corporate Head Office here on January 31.
    “The HLL received 146 scholarship applications from the capital city, from which we selected 26 students based on their merit,” said E.A. Subramanian. Registered in March 2014, Pratheeksha Charitable Society has been offering financial assistance to students from Thiruvananthapuram and Belgaum districts.
    Another set of 23 applications were received at HLL’s manufacturing unit in Belgaum, Karnataka, out of which 10 students were selected. There has been a steady increase in the number of beneficiaries for the Pratheeksha scholarships. In Thiruvananthapuram, it rose from seven students in 2014-2015 to 17 in 2015-2016. In 2016-2017, it increased to 28.
    The scholarship which started in 2014 with 30 students is now sponsoring 118 students out of which 78 are from Thiruvananthapuram and 40 from Belgaum. An annual grant of Rs 30,000 each will be given to five selected MBBS students, Rs 20,000 will be offered to students pursuing Engineering and B-Pharm, and students taking diploma and nursing courses will get Rs 10,000 each. Students pursuing ITI will receive Rs 5,000 annually, until they complete the course successfully.
