Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode today inaugurated the 22nd batch of Post Graduate Program (PGP) and 12th batch of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM). The event was conducted successfully in the presence of an industry stalwart Sanjay Panigrahi, President at Pidilite as the Chief Guest, the academia and the students of IIMK. Sanjay Panigrahi is a professional of 30 plus years of experience and is currently President of Pidilite Industries Ltd.
The ceremony began with an invocation and traditional lamp lighting ceremony by Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director at IIMK and the Chief Guest, Sanjay Panigrahi, Programme Chairs and Student followed by addresses by the chairpersons of Admissions, PGP and FPM, the Dean- Administration & Development and the Director.
The Chief Guest, Sanjay Panigrahi, delivered the inaugural address to the students and the faculty of IIMK. In his address, he spoke about dire need for work-life balancing, in the ever growing world of competition and machine enabled intelligence. He also took the students through a session on Raja Yoga, which has immense potential in keeping the individual in good mood and health. FPM and PGP Students’ representatives also spoke at the ceremony. The session was concluded by a vote of thanks by the member of the students’ council and the National Anthem.
Number of Students for PGP and FPM: IIM Kozhikode currently has 68 full time faculty members and the new batch includes 27 students for the FPM programme and 425 students for the PGP programme. Out of the 1,62,773 students applied for the PGP, IIMK extended admission offers to 1 in 122 of those candidates, keeping the penetration rate at 0.88%, tougher than the IITs.
Academic Profile and Gender Diversity: Looking at the academic profile of the PGP Students, IIMK is a pioneer in gender and academic diversity scores, and there are 115 female students constituting 27%, and 16 FPM students making it to 59.25% and making it always high at the national level.
IIMK Does it Again by its Outstanding Affirmative Action: The Institute took every effort to fill up all the affirmative action seats in PGP, with highly meritorious students and remarkably crossed the threshold (53.3%). Commenting on this special achievement, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee Director of IIMK said “Social deprivation is more central a factor relative to backwardness than economic deprivation. IIMK wants to address these issues through its admission processes”.
