THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Escalators were opened for passengers at Platform No 1 of Alappuzha and Kayamkulam Jn railway stations today in two separate functions.
At Alappuzha station, G Sudhakaran, Minister for Public Works and Registration, Government of Kerala inaugurated the Escalator at Platform No 1 in the presence of K C Venugopal, MP, Thomas Joseph, Municipal Chairperson and C V Manoj Kumar, Municipal Council Member. In the second function K C Venugopal, MP inaugurated the Escalator at Platform No 1 at Kayamkulam Jn station in the presence of Municipal Council Members, Hassan Koya and Vijayakumar Palamattom.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager, Prakash Butani said Trivandrum Division is a passenger oriented division, committed to provide better services to passengers, Among the major transformations at these two stations introduced recently; 100% LED lights are provided at Alappuzha and Kayamkulam Railway stations.
Modern Non vegetarian Refreshment Room opened at Alappuzha station and a high-tech Vegetarian Refreshment Room has been opened at Kayamkulam Jn. Both the stations have advanced LED Train Display Boards introduced.
Free WIFI facility will be introduced at Alappuzha and Kayamkulam Jn stations soon, at Kayamkulam Jn WIFI facility is under trial and will be commissioned soon. Alappuzha station also has a unique multi functional complex with accommodation cum restaurant facilities.
Ajay Kaushik, Divisional Commercial Manager(Co-ordination) expressed the vote of thanks and said that the division is obliged to introduce better passenger amenities and Members of Parliament and the Assembly are requested to support for introduction of passenger amenities and infrastructure development at stations through Local Area Development schemes.
Divisional Officers P L Ashok Kumar Sr. Divisional Operations Manager, S Rangarajan Sr. Divisional Electrical Engineer (G), Premchand, Sr .Divisional Signal and Telecommunications Engineer and A V Sreekumar Divisional Engineer (Special Works) were present in the function.
