Dr. Renu Raj, Assistant collector, Ernakulam inaugurated the ‘Intellectual Property Consulting Centre ‘ at Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology.
“All institutions in the country are putting their best efforts to provide with a world class infrastruct
where employability rate is declining such facilities will improve the quality of the graduates when they pass out” she said. She also pointed out that lack of proper mentorship is one of the key factors that the new startup are lacking and there is a lot that could be done in that area.
“Alumni associations and its contributions will play a major role in the future of both alma mater and the society. Opening such facilities that is open for the public is one big contribution to the society” said Fr. Jose Alex, Director, RSET.
This centre will offer free consulting services not just to the members of Rajagiri family, but also for the members of general public. This will be a one stop solution to clear all doubts and queries on Intellectual Property Filings like Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights, Industrial Designs, Trade Secrets, Trade Dress etc.
With this, Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology will be the first institution in Kerala state to have an Alumni Initiated IP Consulting Centre offering free IP consulting services for all stakeholders in the society.
“In this era with a lot of entrepreneurial aspirants, such facility will not only help new start-ups protect their Intellectual Properties, but also educate them to keep themselves away from any unintentional IP infringements. The services shall be availed by the Incubation and Entrepreneurship Centers of any
institution in Kerala. Members of Alumni working with different domains of the Industry will also offer free mentoring and guidance for those who need technical support and assistance
n IP filings” said Rijin John, President, RSET Alumni Association.
As an alumni’s social initiative to promote innovation and creativity at grassroots, free training and certification programs will be provided on IP for school/college teachers from government, aided and unaided institutions.
The session followed by a brief overview on IP Rights by Dr. R Balakrishnan, Partner of Metayage IP Consulting Services. Dr. A Unnikrishnan, College Principal, Dr. John M George, Vice Principal, Vivek George, Former President, RSET Alumni Association, were also present at the occasion.
