    KOCHI:
    Department of Applied Chemistry of Cochin University of Science and Technology will be organizing an international conference on Materials for the Millennium – ‘MATCON 2019’ 6 th edition during 15 to 19 March at the Department Auditorium.

    More than 300 researchers will take part in the seminar, which will be led by 20 experts from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Canada and India. More than 300 papers will be presented at the seminar, which will discuss innovative trends in material research. Prof. K. George Thomas and Prof. Subi Jacob George, of Bhatnagar award winners will be present in the seminar.

    Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director, CSIR-CECRI, Karaikudi, will inaugurate the ceremony presided over by Dr K. N. Madhusoodhanan, Vice Chancellor, CUSAT at 10 a.m. on 15 th March at the Applied Chemistry Department Auditorium. Dr P.G. Sankaran, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr K. Girish Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. K. Sreekumar, (Chairman, MatCon-2021), The Head, Department of Applied Chemistry, Dr. Sebastian Nybin Remello (Convener, MatCon-2021), Asst. Prof. Department of Applied Chemistry will speak at the function. As part of Prof. K.K. Mohammed Yusuff endowment lecture series, Dr Ani Deepthi, Assistant Professor, Kerala University will deliver a lecture on March 16.

Subrahmanyam, IIT Hyderabad, India, Dr Kaustabh Kumar Maiti, CSIR-NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram, Dr A.T. Biju, IISc, India, Prof. Biprajit Sarkar, University of Stuttgart, Berlin, Dr Mahesh Hariharan and Dr VineshVijayan, IISER, Thiruvananthapuram are the prominent speakers.
     
    Dr Rajesh Krishnan, a team member of Covid-19 developers and Director of Providence Therapeutics, Canada and renowned industrialists Chandrasekhar N, Chief General Manager (Operations), BPCL, Mumbai, Dr Krishnakumar I.M., Chief Scientific Officer, AKAY Natural Ingredients Pvt. Ltd., Kochi and Dr Priya Rao, Managing Director-Pelican Thermogenics Pvt. Ltd., Alappuzha, India will interact with the students about the recent trends in the Chemical Industry sector.
