KOCHI:
Following the success of the previous editions, the third International Seminar on Health , Human Rights and IPR, organized by the Centre for Health Law and Policy, Centre for Human Rights and the Centre for IPR is being held at The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (Nuals), Kochi from 11th October 2017 -13th October 2017.
In the inaugural function Dr. Jill Bronfman, Adjunct Professor of Law in Data Privacy ,UC Hastings College graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Vice Chancellor NUALS, Dr Kuncheria P Issac, Vice Chancellor KTU, College , Dr Athira PS, Director of Centre for IPR and Dr Liji Samuel, Director for Centre of Health Law and Policy presided over the function.
Welcoming the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, the Director of the Centre for IPR , Dr Athira PS presented the welcome address. The presidential address was given by Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, Vice Chancellor (NUALS). The student coordinator Krittika Chavaly spoke on the theme “Access to Technology” which was chosen keeping in mind the revolutionary changes and advancements that has happened in the sector. The Guest Of Honor, Dr Kuncheria P Issac, Vice Chancellor KTU officially inaugurated the seminar.
The keynote address by Dr. Jill Bronfman, Adjunct Professor of Law in Data Privacy ,UC Hastings College on the concept “Internet of Things” was enlightening. She spoke on the true potential of IoT’s and their economic benefit but did not miss out on the potential threats to data security and privacy issues. Dr. Liji Samuel, Director for Centre of Health Law and Policy extended the vote of thanks.
