  • International Women’s Day Celebrations: National Seminar at CUSAT

    KOCHI:
    Women Studies Centre, CUSAT will organize a National Seminar on ‘Discussing Gender Roles in India- Perspective and Challenges’ on 6 th and 7 th March at Hindi department auditorium as part of international women’s day celebrations.

    Vice Chancellor Dr K N Madhusoodanan will inaugurate the seminar at 10.30 am at a function which will be presided over by Dr K Ajitha, Registrar and Director of CUSAT Women Studies Centre. Dr Janaki Sreedharan, noted feminine litterateur and Professor, Department of English, University of Calicut will deliver the Keynote address. Syndicate Members Dr Poornima Narayan and Dr R. Sasidharan will speak. Dr Laksmi Devi Pillai, Dr Vani Kesari, HoD, School of Legal Studies and Dr P K Baby, Director, Youth Dr Nirmala Padmanabhan, Associate Professor, Post Graduate Department &Research Centre in Economics, St. Teresa’s College, Dr Baby Chakrapani, Director, CUSAT Centre for Neuroscience, Dr Darling Selvi, Commerce Professor, RUSA and IQAC Coordinator, Rani Anna Government College for Women, Tirunelveli, Dr Rekha Raj, Asst.Professor, Gandhian Studies, MG University and Project Manager- Women’s rights at Amnesty International India, Dr Neena Joseph, Professor (Retd), IMG, Cochin, Dr Asha Achy Joseph, Filmmaker & founding member of WCC and Head of the Department, School of Communication, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, Dr Sajan Nalpady, former head, Department of English, S.M. College, Kannur, Dr Reshmi Rhiju Ramachandran, Asst Professor, Community Medicine, Govt. Medical College, Ernakulam and Dr Sherin B.S, Assistant Professor, Department of Comparative Literature and India Studies, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad will speak on different topics like ‘Women And Law Reforms in India’, ‘Gender Gaps in Achievement of Nutrition & Health Care’, ‘Women Empowerment- Perspectives of Men’, ‘A Narrative on Gender Politics from Malayalam Cinema since 2017’,‘Domestic Violence: Pervasiveness, Causes, Impact and Solution Approaches’, ‘Voices From Margins: Some Thoughts on Contemporary Dalit Women Debates’, ‘An equal world is an enabled world’, ‘Gender Budget in Kerala’ and ‘Social factors making women prone to Alzheimers’. Many papers will also be presented during the two day seminar.
