A Delhi-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) has just begun providing food aid assistance to daily wage workers. As the second wave of the pandemic has impacted the lives of the Daily Workers in order for them to sustain their families. In addition, their team is distributing Sanitary Napkins to the females in the town.
They aided the individuals by crediting Rs. 1000 to their accounts so that they could provide medical support to their families.
The programme began with the announcement of the Lockdown. After interacting with the residents, it was discovered that they had no money and only had enough food for one or two days. The IYRC NGO and team observed volunteers assisting individuals whose lives were interrupted by the second wave of the pandemic.
Speaking about the initiative, Suraj Kant, Founder & Director, IYRC NGO said that “After interacting with the community it was came forward that people were very much upset with the lockdown because daily wages will get stopped and people were also worried about the food that how they will cope up with this situation. Also we found that people were not having money for medical assistance.
So, this made me take an initiative to support the people. I would like to pay my special regards to the Asha Workers named :- Maya, Kumkum, Neelam, Baljinder, Neeraj, Pinki, Gudiya, Madhu, Ibrana, Milan, Neeraj and Anita who supported is in this initiative and in future we will be able to assist them, he added. The initiative that started on 10th May has been going on for nearly six weeks. With this initiative 200+ families get the Food Relief and 100+ families get the financial assistance of worth Rs. 1000 for medical purposes and 300+ females get the sanitary napkins for their personal hygiene.
