  • Junior Gaurs off to Thumping Start in Junior Leagues

    FC Goa, as a club has consistently focused on their grassroot programme in a bid to develop the level of football in the state. With the FC Goa junior teams participating in the Goa Football Association junior leagues, the performance on the pitch so far has been excellent with the teams getting off to a great start.
    The young Gaurs are off to a flier in the GFA youth leagues. In the U-14 category, the Junior Gaurs have competed in three games so far, coming away with dominating victories in two of the games. In the first match against Candolim, the Junior Gaurs romped to a 6-0 victory. Striker Shaviz scored a hat-trick with Slokh contributing with a brace while Ryan scored one goal. The U-14 team then went on to thump Al Shadai in a stunning 9-0 victory. Striker Shaviz was on target yet again, scoring another hat-trick and adding a fourth before full time. Sergio was on hand to score a brace while Sahil, Davis and Ryan contributed with a goal each. The Junior Gaurs were held to a 2-2 draw in their third outing in a tightly fought contest against Marna Sports Club Siolim. Shaviz scored yet another goal with Sergio scoring the other to earn the team a point. In only three matches so far, Shaviz has already notched up a more than impressive 8 goals, while Sergio becomes the second highest scorer with 3 goals. Slokh and Ryan have two goals each.
    In the U-16 category, FC Goa came away with an impressive 3-0 victory over Sporting Clube de Goa. Asfin Pinto, Aaron Dias and Maxwell Furtado got their names on the score sheet to help their side start the competition on the front foot.
