KOCHI:
Kerala has the potential to emerge as a developed state in the country if political violence comes to an end, Union Home Minister Rajnath said here on Sunday.
Speaking at the valedictory function of the Adharana Sabha organised as part of Sri P Parameswariji Navati Celebrations, the minister said political leaders are now generally seen as lacking integrity, and the political class needs to address it in all seriousness.
Describing Parameswar ji’s life as ‘a living model’, Rajnath Singh said his words and deeds are worthy of emulation. “People should follow his footsteps. His life is a symbol of integrity,” he added.
He said ‘Janasangh under the leadership of Parameswarji was formed in Kerala during 1957, when the party was not even an opposition in the state. “His efforts bore fruits in the 2014 general elections and he will also be able to see that India becomes a Vishwa guru”, he noted.
Paying tributes to India’s robust secularism and multiculturalism, he said the country has embraced all religions. “There are 72 sections of Muslims in the world and all these sections are there in India too, which cannot be seen in any other Muslim country,” he pointed out.
The Union Home Minister said the BJP has already laid a good foundation in Kerala and now efforts have to be made for strengthening the party. “The BJP is the party for the poor and it will strive hard for the upliftment of the downtrodden,” he asserted.
Presiding over the function, Justice K T Thomas, Chairman, Sri P Parameswaran Navati Aghosha Samithi (PNAS), said the position of religion in India’s constitution comes after public health, public order, morality and fundamental rights.
“There are some forces which are spreading a false campaign that secularism is anti-Hindutva.
Objectivity can always be seen in the speeches and works of Parameswarji. This has attracted me towards him and this was also seen in the words of Swami Vivekanada,” he added.
Those spoke on the occasion included Dr Krishna Gopal, Saha Sir Karyavah, RSS; Swami Vivikthananda Saraswathi; Dr D Bau Paul, former Chief Secretary, Government of K
erala; Dr M Lakshmikumari, Chairperson, Vivekananda Vedic Mission Foundation; Swami Amrithakripanandapuri, PEB Menon, Prantha Sanghachalak, RSS; M A Krishnan, Margadarshi, Balagokulam, Kummanam Rajasekharan, BJP State President, R Sanjayan, Joint Director, Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram (BVK), Dr M Mohandas, President, BVK, Dr C I Isaac, Vice President, BVK, K C Sudhir Babu, General Secretary, BVK and Dr K Sivaprasad, Working Chairman.
