  • KSIDC Mentoring Session and Incubation Centre at Rajagiri

    KOCHI:
    The start-up mentoring session conducted by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation was inaugurated by Industry & Sports Minister, E.P. Jayarajan.
    At a function held at the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, the Minister also opened the Incuba4(1)tion Centre established at the college with the support of KSIDC. He promised to open incubation centres in all colleges of Kerala under various universities..
    Industry Principal Secretary P.H. Kurian announced that the fund to support start-ups is ready to be channelled to the deserved. He also added that 140 incubation centres in Kerala are maintaining high standards in their functioning.
    KSIDC Managing Director, Dr M. Beena claimed that 32 start-ups have been financed by them so far and among them one had acquired financial help overseas. She added that each start up is eligible for an amount up to 25 lakh from KSIDC.
    Fr Jose Alex, Director of the Rajagiri Group of Institutions, Madhavan Nambiar, Chairman, Investment Promotion Board &  Dr. Binoy Joseph, Principal, Rajagiri College were also attended the function.
    The business mentoring session was held as part of the continuation of a series of projects that KSIDC has been carrying out for the benefit of young entrepreneurs. This programme is exclusively meant for young entrepreneurs and selected students who are found to have an aptitude for entrepreneurship.
    The mentoring session was held with the support of TiE-Kerala. The session was led by experts including Rajesh Nair, President TIE-Kerala, Padmaja Ruparel, President Indian Angel Network, C. Balagopal, Former Chairman, Terumo Penpol and Shiju Radhakrishnan, CEO, I-Traveller. The session discussed varied topics including the main challenges of entrepreneurship, the sources for financial support, and the path traversed by young entrepreneurs in realizing their business dreams.
    Nearly 150 startup entrepreneurs chosen from KSIDC’s existing Incubation Centres, and colleges participated in the mentoring session. The Incubation Centres have been conceived by KSIDC to provide the required encouragement for realization of unique venture ideas of student entrepreneurs, in collaboration with colleges and universities.
    As a part of this, the Incubation Centre at the Rajagiri College has been established in a 1,300-sq ft space, with advanced facilities. Nearly 25 student entrepreneurs can use this facility.
