PATNA:
RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav has vehemently condemned the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, lamenting his absence from Parliament which, he claims, prevented him from single-handedly opposing the controversial legislation.
In a statement shared on his official X handle, Lalu expressed deep regret over not being present in the House, asserting, “I regret that I am not in Parliament right now; otherwise, I alone would have been enough to oppose this Bill.” He went on to accuse the BJP and RSS of scheming to seize Muslim lands, emphasizing his lifelong commitment to safeguarding Waqf properties through stringent laws. “Sanghi (RSS)-BJP people, you want to grab the lands of Muslims, but we have always made strict laws to protect Waqf lands,” Lalu declared.
Despite his physical absence, Lalu reassured his supporters by stating, “Even though I am not in the House, I am in your thoughts, dreams, ideas, and worries. My unwavering commitment, persistence, and stability on my ideology, policy, and principles are the accumulated capital of my life.” He also shared a video clip from his 2010 parliamentary speech on Waqf laws, reinforcing his longstanding dedication to protecting these assets.
Lalu’s remarks come as he is currently hospitalized at Delhi AIIMS following a decline in his health on Wednesday. Meanwhile, RJD leaders continue to target the Central and Bihar governments over the bill. “We have been fighting against the Bill right from the beginning. The voters of Bihar will punish them in the upcoming assembly elections,” asserted Tejashwi Yadav.
